Get Involved

One of the main purposes of Chountra Welfare Association UK is to provide a platform to enable people to achieve a successful hereafter. You can get involved in our noble cause in many ways (without being Bill Gates), so that when your Lord asks you how you utilised your abilities (financial, physical, knowledge or otherwise) which He bestowed upon you then at least you can say with His will to Him that I made some efforts to use my abilities to make a difference.

With a small effort, you can make a big difference in the lives of many, in a number of ways:-

1. Financial – If Allah (SWT) has bestowed you with wealth then you should spend at least some part of it on His people. Indeed, Charity does not decrease wealth.

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Charity does not decrease wealth, no one forgives another except that Allah increases his honour, and no one humbles himself for the sake of Allah except that Allah raises his status.
In another narration, the Prophet said, “Wealth is not decreased by charity, so give in charity. A servant does not pardon an injustice seeking the countenance of Allah except that Allah will raise him by it.

2. Physical – If you were not born with a silver spoon in your mouth BUT Allah (SWT) has blessed you with good health, then you can give Sadqa of your body by sparing some time for this organisation.

When we are young we are full of energy, and we should use that energy to help others when we can. In order to help those in need, we don’t need to have deep pockets or donate thousands of pounds to charity every month, there are so many ways in which we can benefit others. The Prophet (pbuh) said:

‘Every Muslim has to give in charity… [and if has nothing to give] he should work with his hands … and give in charity (from what he earns)… [and if he can’t do that] he should help the needy who appeal for help…’ (Bukhari)
‘Charity’ in Islam does not necessarily mean just giving money. In the Qur’an, charity is referred to as ‘spending out of what Allah has given you’. This reminds us that charity does not have to be purely monetary. It can be given through the spending of energy, talent, resources, or whatever else, to help and do good to those in need, as the Prophet (pbuh) said: ‘Every act of goodness is a charity.’ (Muslim)

3. Sharing knowledge/Expertise/Teaching – If you were not born with a silver spoon in your mouth and are no longer blessed with good health, nonetheless you can give Sadqa of your knowledge/expertise to benefit others.
It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: “I heard the Messenger of Allah ii say: ‘Whoever comes to this mosque of mine, and only comes for a good purpose, such as to learn or to teach, his status is like that of one who fights in Jihad in the cause of Allah. Whoever comes for any other purpose, his status is that of a man who is keeping an eye on other people’s property.’”

Sabl bin Mu’ddh bin Anas narrated from his father that the Prophet i said: “Whoever teaches some knowledge will have the reward of the one who acts upon it, without that detracting from his reward in the slightest.”
